Mrs Mcglynn            Mr Shea                  Mr Jeavons

Year 6 has extra classroom support from Mrs Longmore, Mrs Jeavons, Mrs Jackson, Mrs Turner, Miss Fieldhouse and Mrs Handley.

In Year 6, we are all working extremely hard to fulfil our learning potential and prepare the children for the upcoming SATs in May. Our super parental support greatly benefits the learning process for our students.

Year Six is a very important year for a number of reasons:

  • It’s the final year of being at New Invention Junior School;
  • It’s time to choose your secondary school;
  • As the school’s eldest learners, pupils in Year Six set an example of how to behave and have an excellent attitude to learning to all of the other years;
  • In May, children take their SAT tests;
  • Rich experiences on visits to Paris and Drayton Manor.

KS2 SATs

PE Days in Year 6

All Year 6 children need to bring their PE kits in to school every Monday and Thursday.

Year 6 Music

Year 6 children who have chosen to continue playing their musical instrument in Year 6, will need to bring their instruments to school every Tuesday to enjoy specialist music teaching from Walsall music hub.

Homework in Year 6

In Year 6, homework is uploaded to Seesaw weekly. Homework books (which can be kept at home) can be used to complete the tasks and then children can take a photo of it and upload it to Seesaw. However, some homework tasks are set on our online platforms, such as Ed Shed, Reading Plus, My Maths and TTRS.

Homework is set every Friday and to be completed by the following Thursday. Children are encouraged to organise their time throughout the week, so all homework isn't completed the night before it is due.

There is also an expectation for children to read regularly each week and record what they have read in their Reading Record books.
